Cleaning your phone, tablet and TV screen safely

Screens collect grease, dust and bacteria — but the wrong cleaner does more damage than the dirt. Here's what's actually safe.

What to avoid

Alcohol, ammonia, window spray and abrasive wipes strip the oleophobic coating that keeps fingerprints from sticking. Paper towel and tissue scratch. Skip all of them.

The safe method

Power off, spray Magic Cleaner onto a microfiber cloth (never directly onto the device), wipe gently, then dry-buff. Alcohol-free means safe for touchscreens and coatings.

Getting into the edges

A cloth-wrapped fingertip or a soft brush handles bezels and speaker grilles. Keep liquid away from ports and buttons.
